  • Are Fetal Dopplers Safe for my baby?

To date there are no known negative effects on mother or fetus from use of a fetal doppler or ultrasound machine. As with any medical device it is a good idea to discuss the purchase or rental of a fetal doppler with your healthcare provider.

Why buy when I can rent a fetal doppler?

Renting a fetal doppler is a good idea and can save you some expense if you only plan to use it for a few months. If you plan to have more children in the future or you intend to keep your doppler for more than 4 or 5 months, purchasing one of our affordable Hi Bebe dopplers is the right choice for you.

When you are finished with your doppler you can typically resell it on Ebay for close to what you paid for it. Hi Bebe fetal dopplers tend to hold their value well for resale.

What is the difference between your doppler and a rental company's doppler?

The difference between our affordable Hi Bebe doppler and the ones provided to you by rental companies are casing and sensitivity and most importantly, price. The rental companies usually carry very sensitive doppler with a 3mhz probe which can pick up a fetal heartbeat as early as 8-10 weeks. Also, since they are often shipped back and forth, the casing that the rental company's dopplers are housed in is very durable. These features make the rental company's dopplers quite expensive to buy.

The Hi Bebe fetal doppler is a medical quality device that can be used by physicians, midwives or pregnant women who wish to monitor thier baby's heartbeat. Our dopplers have great sound quality and come with a 2Mhz probe that is able to pick up a baby's heartbeat as early as 10-12 weeks. All of the Hi Bebe fetal dopplers come with a 1 year warranty and a 7 day return policy.

Do I need my doctors approval?

There is no prescription requirement to rent or buy a fetal doppler in Canada. However, it is always a good idea to discuss renting or purchasing a fetal doppler with your healthcare provider.

What is the difference between a 2mhz or a 3mhz probe?

A 3mhz probe is useful in picking up a heartbeat in the early weeks of the first trimester (usually around 8-10 weeks) and can be used throughout pregnancy.

A 2mhz probe works best after about 12 weeks and throughout the rest of pregnancy. Also, a 2mhz probe tends to work better than a 3mhz probe for women who are overweight.
